Account Deletion Request
Permanently delete your GoviNet account and all associated data
You can request the permanent deletion of your GoviNet account at any time. Once deleted, your account and all personal data cannot be recovered.
How to Request Account Deletion
You can delete your account in two ways:
Option 1 — In App
- Open the GoviNet app
- Go to Profile tab
- Tap Sign Out
- Confirm sign out
When you sign out, your account is automatically deleted. All your personal data, posts, and records are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
Option 2 — Email Request

What Gets Deleted
- Your account profile (name, phone number, email)
- All sighting reports and incident posts you submitted
- Your saved locations and preferences
- Push notification tokens
- GoviBima insurance records linked to your account
- GoviShop listings and orders
- Chat history in Ali Mithuro and community channels
Data Retention After Deletion
- When you sign out, your account is immediately deactivated
- All personal data, posts, sighting reports, and records are permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days
- Anonymised, aggregated statistics (no personal identifiers) may be retained for research
- Backup copies are fully purged within the same 30-day window
This action is permanent. Once your account is deleted, it cannot be recovered. Please download any data you wish to keep before submitting a deletion request.
Privacy Policy
GoviNet ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Farms Tech (farms-tech.com). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the GoviNet mobile application.
Information We Collect
- Account information: Name, phone number, email address, district, and farming role
- Location data: Real-time GPS location when reporting elephant sightings or incidents (only while app is in use)
- Device information: Device type, OS version, push notification token
- Usage data: Features used, sighting reports submitted, market data viewed
- Media: Photos uploaded for sighting reports or GoviShop listings
How We Use Your Information
- To send real-time elephant incident alerts to farmers in your area
- To display nearby crop market prices relevant to your location
- To process GoviBima crop insurance enrolments
- To connect farmers through GoviShop and community features
- To improve app performance and safety features
Data Sharing
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties
- Location data used for elephant alerts is shared anonymously with the community
- We use Microsoft Azure (Canada Central) for secure cloud data storage
- We use Google Firebase for push notifications
- We use Google Maps for map features
Data Security
All data is transmitted using HTTPS/TLS encryption. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised team members only.
Children's Privacy
GoviNet is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and data (see above)
- Withdraw consent for location tracking at any time via device settings
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
